3 days after festus takes over. two years after this thing started. paul must have really pissed them off. and what he did must have still been a huge thorn in their side. otherwise, you would think they would have let it go by now. but no. and again, they set up a plot to kill him themselves.
i find it interesting how in just a couple of short chapters, this wild story of extraordinary goings on has turned into a courtroom drama.
and funny. festus' words just strike me as funny. because he is on the outside, the intense anger of the jews makes no sense to him. these were the verses that struck me as such.
Ac 25:18-20 "When his accusers got up to speak, they did not charge him with any of the crimes I had expected. Instead, they had some points of dispute with him about their own religion and about a dead man named Jesus who Paul claimed was alive. I was at a loss how to investigate such matters..."
AC 25:27 “For it seems absurd to me in sending a prisoner, not to indicate also the charges against him.”
i used to think it strange that paul tried to "defend himslef" so much that he appeals to ceasar, but now i see the plan behind it....i love seeing the truth when you read something again
