not a lot for me today. strengthening to see paul continuing to maintain his testimony.
two years. paul was left in prison for two years. it goes by so fast in a verse. two little words. but there is a lot packed into those two words.
how strange that after paul worked with such a fervency to spread the gospel that god would give him a break. i wonder, how worried was he about his "children" while in prison?
has anyone ever heard of a man named richard wurmbrandt?
jOn, I think I may still have a Richard Wurmbrand book in the archives: Tortured for His Faith. Romanian pastor who was imprisoned for 14 years before his release and eventual expulsion ot the U.S. For years he did a newsletter: The Vocie of the Martyrs. Unbelievable life story and his newsletters were filled with incredible stories of other Christians who were tortured or martyred for their faith. If you are interested, I'll look around to see if I have any copies stashed away.
sorry i'm late. just got home from work. i can only assume at what you're asking about, hersch. if you are asking about the resurrection of the righteous and the wicked, i would assume he's talking about when everyone will be resurrected to face judgement at the white throne. or perhaps you weren't even asking about this? hope you come back and clarify. i'm curious.
and yes. i would love to read tortured for christ if you still have it around.
yes i was talking about the resurrerection thing.....so much stuff has come up in places lately about "Christian universalism" and so i was wondering your thoughts on this verse in relation to that
ah, yes. well. i think scripture is very clear that everyone will be raised again. some to inheritance. and some to no inheritance. but what does that mean? commonly we hear "hell" spoken of eternal separation from god. i haven't really found that verse yet. god is omnipresent, right?
but, again, i don't have everything figured out. just thoughts. theories. one i have heard is that since god's presence is a "consuming fire", those who have not been prepared to be in such a holy presence will "burn."
not saying i believe this. just throwing it into the mix.
but i know we will all be raised. all of us have eternal life. what i think will differ is the quality of that life.
