susan, just wanted to say thanks for the quote you gave a couple of days ago. it has stayed with me and brought me much comfort.

i have brought some dangerously hot (more in temperature than spice. not to say there's no kick, there is! i just mean it won't make you cry or anything) nacho cheese and tortilla strips.

wow. that opening scene is amazing. paul, sitting in front of the men he had betrayed. trying, in all transparancy, to explain to his brothers. “My brothers, I have fulfilled my duty to God in all good conscience to this day.”
i swear. i swear that this is the real thing.

the high priest orders him to be slapped across the face. paul then opens his mouth and speaks. interestingly enough, there is so much truth in the words that come out of paul's mouth, that if they had ears to actually "hear" what he had said, it would have been a more powerful slap than the one he received.

and then paul throws things into chaos by simply bringing up a point of theology. that's like a universalist going on trial and being tried by a group made up of calvinists and arminians. then the universalist casually mentions predestination and the place erupts in debate and infighting.

and at that moment. i see paul leaning back and looking on what was going wearing the same look on his face as "lardass". the kid from the movie "stand by me" who was wearing a look of ultimate triumph after he orchestrated a town barf-o-rama. arms folded. looking satisfied and amused. a brief moment of levity in the middle of the storm. god can give you little presents anywhere.

yeah. he's that good.

comparing paul to lardass....priceless

its seens liek this that remind me of the parable of the shrewed business man that Jesus told. That parable is hard to grasp, but seeing paul's actions here, it makes more sense. His actions to throw uot the point of theology was very shrewd and saved his life so that he could go on to rome...

I like how these guys actually listened to Jesus and put his teachings into practice...now if only i could get that down...
